Q: Can I write off my gambling losses?
A: Only up to the amount of gambling winnings. Losses over and above gambling winnings are not deductible.

Q: Can I file with my last year-to-date check stub if I haven't received my Form W2 yet?
A: No the IRS requires a Form W2 to file a tax return. However, after mid-February a substitute can be completed and used if a Form W2 can not be obtained.

Q: Can I write off my non-cash contributions if I don't have a receipt?
A: Yes, if you itemize your deductions then your non-cash contributions to non profit organizations are deductible without a receipt, but only up to $250. Please note however, a receipt is required for non-cash contributions for any amounts over $250.
Feb 8, 2012:
Q: When can I expect my refund?
A: If the IRS accepts your tax return between now and Feb 15th, it will be direct deposited by Feb 22nd or a check will be mailed out to you on February 24th.
